Argentina are seen as one of the favourites to lift the title, and with a relatively easy Group F, which also involves Nigeria and Iran apart from Bosnia-Herzegovina, the South Americans should be able to negotiate through to the last 16 comfortably enough.
However, there have been enough signs at this World Cup already which has thrown conventional wisdom out of the window; Argentina, who were knocked out of the quarterfinals in the 2010 World Cup by Germany, will do well not to become the latest casualty of the growing list of upsets.
"Since this tournament has started with a heap of upsets, I am hoping for another one tomorrow," Bosnia-Herzegovina coach Safet Susic said on Saturday.
Alejandro Sabella has a ridiculous attacking lineup at his disposal, but the coach was tight-lipped about the formation or the team that would face Bosnia come Sunday.
"I will evaluate the players up until the last minute and decide who are in the best condition to face the 90 minutes," Sabella said. "We've got one more night to think about it. We've already practised one system (4-3-3) and then we did the other (5-3-2).
"But it has got nothing to do with whether you play with two or three forwards and just because you have more people in attack doesn't mean we are going to score more goals."
Argentina might have a mouth-watering array of attacking players at their disposal, but in Bosnia, they will be up against a team in tremendous attacking form as well. Bosnia-Herzegovina were the second top scorers in European qualifying, with Susic promising an attacking mind set.
"We are going to play with three attackers tomorrow and at least two attacking midfielders and two fullbacks who keep on attacking and going forward," Susic said. "This is how we play football. We can't play any other kind of football, nor do I want us to play any other kind of football."
Argentina have been a little too porous at the back of late, and the South Americans will need to be resilient at the back to stop Edin Dzeko and co. from banging a few in in Rio.
"We know that in midfield and up front we've got some great players who can change the course of games at any given time," Argentina central defender Ezequiel Garay told FIFA's official website. "That makes it a tremendous challenge for us defenders, but that's not because we're not good enough but because our teammates further forward are so good."

Team news: Argentina: Gonzalo Higuain has been struggling with an ankle problem but is expected to take the field in a three-prong attack with Messi and Sergio Aguero.

Bosnia-Herzegovina: Sejad Salihovic is an injury concern for the Europeans, but Susic does not have too many other problems.

Now in 2014, Bosnia is looking to make their presence known, and there would be no better way to do so than to take down one of the tournament favorites in Argentina.

France vs Honduras takes place on Sunday in World Cup 2014 Group E, and the former World Cup winners, France, will be looking to get their tournament off to the perfect start with three points and a win today. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the ABC network, or online through free live stream (details below).

France will be big favorites to win this game. Even though they had a tough qualifying campaign, their opposition today has been in the World Cup twice before but has failed to record a win in either.
So for Honduras this year it will be a case of third time lucky, and they will be hoping to set off celebrations in their home country by recording a historic first World Cup victory.
Honduras coach Luis Fernando Suarez is not fazed by the task put to his team, and he is confident his team has the skills and capabilities of winning this year, and even taking down France today.
He said, "Honduras can beat France in the World Cup. But we have to work hard to arrive at the game in form."
Honduras certainly have a bit more confidence around them than they have had at previous World Cups. They qualified in CONCACAF for this year's tournament ahead of Mexico, portraying strength and organization throughout their campaign.
The South American team play a more direct route brand of football and that can cause opposition teams a lot of difficulties if they are not organized and suffer any concentration lapses.
If France are at the top of their game today they should win. But if they have a bad day or if they sit back too much then Honduras have the capabilities of causing a shock today.

17.00 Uruguay will give star striker Luis Suarez every chance to prove his fitness less than a month after having knee surgery ahead of their World Cup opener with Costa Rica in Fortaleza on Saturday.

The Premier League Player of the Year had an operation to repair damage to the meniscus in his left knee on May 22, but has remained steadfast in his determination to feature in Brazil.

"I want to tell everyone that the recovery is going very well and that the knee feels good. Everything depends on how things go day-by-day, but it is going well," Suarez said via his official Twitter account.

"I want to thank you all for the messages of support I have received throughout the week and my mind is now focused on the World Cup."

However, with tougher tests on paper in England and Italy to come for the 2010 semi-finalists later in Group D, coach Oscar Tabarez may be tempted to give his star man a few extra days to recover. If it was down to me then Suarez would play," said Tabarez.

"His path from the under 20 side to now has been incredible, but first we just think about him as a person rather than a footballer and protect him. Then we can go step-by-step and we are getting closer to the dream that he will be with us."

Should Suarez not start then the Golden Ball winner from four years ago, Diego Forlan, will join Paris Saint-Germain's Edison Cavani in attack.

Forlan returned to training on Thursday after missing a session earlier in the week due to a stomach problem.

The only other doubt for Tabarez is whether to start Espanyol's Cristian Stuani or Southampton's Gaston Ramirez on the right side of the attack.

Ramirez started in recent friendly wins over Northern Ireland and Slovenia, but Stuani came off the bench to score in both those matches and looks the favourite to start.

Costa Rica, meanwhile, come into the competition as huge underdogs as they have been grouped alongside three previous World Cup winners.

The Central Americans' task has been made even more difficult by injuries to key players as full-back Heiner Mora joined Real Salt Lake's Alvaro Saborio and Everton's Bryan Oviedo in missing out on the tournament.

But captain Bryan Ruiz insisted they won't be overawed by their opponents.

"Everything is ready for Saturday," he said. "We know what the team will be, the tactics we will use and also what we have to do during the game.

"There is a lot of motivation and, despite knowing that a point would be good, we don't want to settle and we will look for the three points."

Costa Rica Relishing Underdog Role

SAO PAULO (AP) — Only eight countries have ever won the World Cup, and in Brazil three of them face Group D underdog Costa Rica.

Coach Jorge Luis Pinto greeted them with a warning: “We respect England, Italy, and Uruguay. But they should know that we can play football too.”

In Saturday’s opener in Fortaleza, Pinto’s men take on a Uruguay side which has high hopes of improving on its run to the semifinals in 2010, despite the uncertainty hanging over striker Luis Suarez following knee surgery three weeks ago.

Hard-working Costa Rica resumed training within hours of arriving on Tuesday at their southern World Cup camp in Santos, where Brazilian great Pele used to play.

Key to their success as a Central American spoiler, says the coach, is the notion that the pressure will be on all three of their opponents to win.

“We will play without fear. We face three world champions and we can take them all on,” Pinto said. “What we feel is joy and motivation.”

Pinto’s plans could be rattled on Saturday if his loses central defenders Michael Umana and Junior Diaz, who are recovering from flu.

The Ticos are expected to rely on in-form goalkeeper Keylor Navas who plays for Spanish club Levante, and 28-year-old captain Bryan Ruiz, whose season was revived in the Netherlands after doomed Premier League club Fulham loaned him out to PSV Eindhoven before being relegated.

Ruiz guided the Costa Ricans as they efficiently went about the task of beating weaker opponents in qualifying to make their fourth World Cup appearance.

Against Uruguay, Pinto is more likely to use counterattacks, helped by Joel Campbell, an Arsenal striker on loan to Olympiakos who scored a superb goal for the Greek side in a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in the Champions League in February.

Uruguay may have more talent on the bench that many countries could hope for, but the South American nation is worried about the recovery of striker Suarez, who led Liverpool to the brink of its first league title in a generation and scored 11 goals in qualifying for his country.

The 27-year-old joined training on the sidelines at the Uruguay base near Belo Horizonte, and posted a video to fans on the Internet to assure them his recovery was going well.

Even his absence would leave coach Oscar Tabarez with the formidable Edinson Cavani, the Paris Saint-Germain striker who scored 16 goals in the French League this season, and the 35-year-old Diego Forlan, player of the tournament at the 2010 World Cup.

“Age affects things like speed and other player characteristics of the players, but Forlan is still a very big part of this team, bringing his experience, presence on the pitch and great shooting skill from distance,” Tabarez said.

Uruguay’s ambitions, Tabarez said, require a win in Fortaleza.

“The Costa Ricans are fast and they will try and make life difficult for us,” the 67-year-old coach said. “Costa Rica is a major obstacle and we have a lot of respect for them. But our intention is to get the three points.”
